The Shaggy Dog Project

January 2012. The Shaggy Dog boarding facility located in Dallas, Oregon is now producing electricity with their 13.16 kW solar electric system. Designed and installed by Advanced Energy Systems, the 56 SolarWorld 235 watt modules will reduce the companies electricity bill, and save on greenhouse gasses. Funding for the project came from the facility owner, and from a utility incentive administered by the Energy Trust of Oregon. There were no state business tax credits funding the project but working with AES to design the system, it still made financial sense with a relatively short payback period. Over the life of the system Shaggy Dog will save an estimated $112,000 in electricity costs, and offset the use of nearly 21,000 gallons of Gasoline. Additional benefits to the environment include offsetting 200 tons of CO2 or the equivalent of planting 4,750 trees.

The Shaggy Dog is promoting the Oregon sourced materials used in the construction of the facility. For more information on how to create a system that does not rely on state business tax credits, please contact Advanced Energy Systems. 1-800-399-1596 or use the contact us form on the right.
